Otolaryngology is the surgical sub-specialty of the medical and surgical management of disorders of the ear, nose and throat, or simply, ENT. Common ear diseases treated include hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), ear pain, ear infections, and dizziness. Nasal problems include nasal obstruction, nasal allergy, and sinus infections. Throat concerns include sore throats/tonsillitis, hoarseness, swallowing disorders, and chronic cough. Otolaryngologists are also trained in the evaluation of lumps and bumps in the head and neck, including neck masses, skin lesions, and lesions in the mouth or throat. This specialty sees both pediatric and adult patients.
